New York! At Last!

I haven't been to New York since the Cretaceous Period, so I finally nailed down a date. I'll be going up on the first Saturday of March and don't want to waste the twelve bucks I spent on bus tickets, so I'm planning ahead.

Here's the list (so far) of shows I'm planning to see:
Guido van der Werve: Nummer twaalf at Luhring Augustine
Yun-Fei Ji: Mistaking Eachother for Ghosts at James Cohen Gallery
Jason Bryant and Kevin Cyr: Behind the Curtain at Raandesk Gallery of Art
Nicholas Di Genova: Chimera at Fredericks & Freiser

Any and all recommendations are welcome!

WHITNEY BIENNIAL 2010? if you can swing it, it might be a must see this year!

Guido -- BIG. Not necessarily cogent, or articulate (if that makes sense).

Yun-Fei Ji -- gotta love the title "Mistaking ecach other for ghosts." Lovely lines, and cool colors.

Not able to (easily) access more examples of Kevin and Jason, but, if pressed to the wall, Jason works better --

Nicholas di Genova (sp?) is quite good. (Can't touch YOU, though. Sorry if that's maternal ignorance, but, well, there it is.)

Perhaps displaying provincialism, but here's one show that caught my eye -- the original Renaissance Man --

Feb 18, 10:00 AM Da Vinci's Workshop at Discovery Times Square Exposition
(Occurs 23 more times thru Mar 13)

and

Invitational Exhibition Of Contemporary American Art
Feb 18, 12:00 PM at National Academy Museum
(Occurs 127 more times thru Aug 14)

But, well, looking forward very much to thoughts about stuff you WERE able to see in the coming days :)

Thanks for the suggestions. Definitely going to get to the Whitney. I'm curious about their "collecting biennials" project.

I'll always recommend The Society of Illustrators (...I wonder why?). It will have the Advertising and Institutional show - the past year's "best works" in that field by reknowned contemporary illustrators and art directors. 128 East 63rd Street (between Park and Lexington Avenues). Sweet!
Enjoy your trip :)
